Fashion gets recycled from decade to decade. The Digital Chosun recently ran an piece on the comeback of the Boyfriend Jacket. “Due to the influence of 80’s retro style, clothes that are large and can cover the bodyline have been very popular. That’s the reason why brands are launching styles that make women look as if they were wearing their boyfriend’s clothes,” said designer Son Jung-wan.
So I dug up a photo of me circa 1988 in Singapore w/ my Anne Klein jacket, big shoulder pads and all. I don’t recall the style being called boyfriend jacket though. That’s a Betsey Johnson tube dress underneath. The glasses are Ralph Lauren. Very 80’s retro.
